Sünnbuel - Winter Months

Take the Sünnbuel lift up (Half Tax and the Junior Cards accepted) and enjoy a day in a stunning setting. During the winter months, the area is equipped with winter hiking/snowshoe trails (ranging from 1.8 km to longer) cross country skiing tracks and sledding.

Tip:

New to snowshoeing and want to give it a try? The Sünnbuel lift station offers snowshoe rentals for the day, so no need to purchase your own.

Should hunger set in, there are plenty of options in the area from the Bergrestaurant and Station Sunnbüel to the impressive Gemmi Lodge and Spa 2350 (for details on the hike to the lodge and overnight accommodations, we profile this location in our book, Fresh Air Kids Switzerland - Hikes to Huts).

Interested in experiencing a Swiss Alpine Hut during the winter months? Consider the Lämmerenhütte located at the back of the valley, with stunning views and absolute tranquility, this is the destination for those looking to retreat from it all. Or, if you are looking for a lovely destination during the winter or summer months, without having to hike too far, consider the historic Berghotel Schwarenbach.

The magic of this location is its solitude and peace. While visited and enjoyed by many, it never feels crowded.

Tip:

For those traveling with children, enjoy the children‘s trail, Godi and Kari in the snow. This 1.8 km route takes approximately 45 minutes round trip and has minimal elevation gain.
